The Fred Arthur Archive Fred Arthur has been the standard for comedy radio and television commercials in the Denver market as well as around the nation. After several years in radio, Fred went into business as Fred Arthur Productions in 1961 Since that time, Colorado radio listeners have looked forward to such commercials as EMW Carpet, Mountain States Bank, Hugh Tighe's Skyline Dodge, Grease Monkey, Kuner's, Stokes Chili and Mile High Flea Market to name just a few. Nationally, Fred produced commercials for ABC Television, Hamms' Beer, JVC, Kenwood, K-Mart, Northwest Orient Airlines and did over 600 Public Service spots over a span of 15 years for the American Lung Association. Fred has won 9 Clio awards, the Oscars of the Advertising Industry, five International Broadcasting awards and scores of local, regional and national accolades. But his favorite was not an award, bur rather a comment made by a former producer of the old "Fred Allen Show," Vic Knight which appeared in a 1963 Printer's Ink magazine. Knight said "There is someone in Denver Colorado, Fred Arthur, who is writing commercial for a car dealer (Johnny Haas Lincoln/Mercury) that are every bit as funny as anything we ever did on the Allen Series." Whether local or national, Fred Arthur Productions produced commercials that people looked forward to seeing or hearing. In addition to the entertainment the spots delivered, the bonus was a message that made the listener know the name and the message of the client. After all, that's what Advertising is all about. Now retired, Fred and his wife Nancy now divide their time between homes in Centennial and Fort Myers Beach, Florida. |
