Longtime Denver television news anchor John Rayburn passed away at the age of 96. He’s one of the few Denver personalities who’ve been a primary anchor on Channels 4, 7 and 9 during their career.

After his retirement from TV news, Rayburn also hosted “Senior Showcase” on KRMA Rocky Mountain PBS. The show focused on issues affecting senior citizens, but he also found opportunities to bring his old broadcasting friends into the studio to talk about the old days.

He was inducted into the Broadcast Pioneers Hall of Fame in 2009..
