Remembering Broadcast Pioneers of Colorado member and friend David Hixson. Born June 25, 1939, David passed on Monday, May 22, 2023 at 83.

David’s full time radio career started in Wyoming in 1965. Over the next 37 years, his deep, resonate voice was heard in Kansas, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, Oregon, Arizona and (for over 15 years) Colorado. He was on KRDO AM in Colorado Springs and KTLN, KBRQ, KLZ, KOSI AM/FM and KEZW (which was KOSI AM until 1981). He had three stints at 1430 (1975-1978, 1980-1984 and 1994-1999). During his career, he was often a morning or afternoon drive host. He also did a late night talk show and served in management roles including as KEZW Program Director early in the station’s existence.
