In 1961, Ed Scott bought radio station KLAK from Morey DaVolt. DaVolt literally built the station, signing it on in 1955 in Lakewood. Here the two men shake on the sale, with Ed in his Sheriff Scotty costume. Ed owned KLAK for 15 years.

KLAK was the Denver area’s first all country radio station. Ed’s purchase of the station and subsequent addition of country on the FM at KLAK FM cemented the format. KYGO has a tribute to Ed Scott posted on their website, recognizing him as “paving the way for KYGO’s success.”

Rest In Peace Ed Scott. And thanks for all you did for broadcasting in Colorado.
