Remembering legendary broadcaster and friend Larry Zimmer who’s passed away at the age of 88.
The longtime voice of the CU Buffaloes and Denver Broncos, Larry was one of college football’s outstanding play-by-play announcers, winning the prestigious Chris Schenckel Award. His most famous call was of the Kordell Stewart to Michael Westbrook Hail Mary pass that beat Michigan on the final play of the game.
With the Broncos, he did color commentary alongside Bob Martin before taking over play-by-play duties. He turned over those duties to Dave Logan to focus on his beloved Buffs.
He was inducted into the Broadcast Pioneers of Colorado Hall of Fame in 2009. Here is the video tribute from that 2009 induction.
Rest in Peace, Larry.
