Sad news that TV legend Regis Philbin has passed at 88. His first TV job was as an NBC page working the Tonight Show, and he’d go on to be Joey Bishop’s TV sidekick and host many of his own shows through the decades.

There is an interesting Denver connection. In the mid 1970s, Channel 9’s sports director Lynn Sanner became critically ill. KBTV (now KUSA) brought in Regis Philbin for a few weeks to fill-in as sports anchor on the nightly Channel 9 newscast.

We remember and honor Regis Philbin for his vast body of work in television, including that brief time doing sports in Denver. Rest in Peace.
