Rick Crandall and KEZW had an incredible run on Denver Radio. The end of an era.
Disc Jockey isn’t a descriptive enough phrase to describe his connection with his audience. For over 30 years, he kept KEZW’s evolving nostalgia format relevant long after most stations abandoned big band jazz and Great American Songbook standards.
More importantly. he drew a loyal audience, many of which were veterans of World War II, the Korean War and peacetime eras that led to tireless efforts to honor their service. As host of the Regis University “Stories From Wartime” series, live radio remotes from veterans events, including in Normandy, France, and most importantly as the founder and driving force of the Colorado Freedom Memorial, Rick’s commitment to Colorado’s veterans is unmatched in Colorado Broadcasting.
Rick retired from radio when KEZW’s format was changed, but his commitment to Veterans and the Freedom Memorial will never change. Congratulations on a fantastic career.
