The legendary radio talk host had a successful career on KWBZ and KHOW before joining 85 KOA (he also appeared on KOA TV).  He was one of the first hosts in Denver to popularize the topical and politically oriented talk format that would later dominate AM Radio. Unlike the mostly conservative hosts that followed, Berg as an outspoken and unabashed liberal.

His politics and avowed Jewish identity drew complaints from listeners (as well as a large fan base) and sadly, the hatred of extremists. Alan Berg was gunned down by members of the white nationalist group ‘the Order’ outside his Denver home on June 18, 1984. Alan was just 50 years old.
