Fifty six years ago, August 26, 1964, the original KIMN (95 AM) presented the Beatles at Red Rocks.
It has the distinction of being the only Beatles concert in the US that didn’t sell out. As a result, the Beatles skipped Denver in 1965. KIMN did a major promotion and flew listeners to St. Louis to see a concert there, chartering a jet and flying to St. Louis and back in less than 24 hours. Like many Beatles concerts, the band could barely be heard above the noise of the screaming fans.
The Red Rocks show – while not a technical sell out – was still a full house. Many in the crowd hadn’t bought tickets but had snuck in.
